Ok now for my little questions:
What is a Java applet? (:-)

A small program written in the language JAVA which is SUPPOSED to run on any
machine with a proper web browser. (MAC, PC, whatever).

And how does one "run" one???

Simply click on the URL link. It should load and run on your machine in a
special window. When you close that window, however, it is gone. Must be
reloaded each time.

And how does one write one???

One learns JAVA, which is a language like Pascal, Basic, Fortran, etc. The
Java Development kit is available (I believe for free) from Sun
Microsystems. Many books available.
