There is an accessible way to visualize flow round an airfoil in a 2D way.
One places an upper water reservoir with a thin film of water flowing down
a slight incline to a lower reservoir/drain.
Flowlines are visualised with an array of dye crystals at the upper
reservoir. The airfoil section is placed as a 'dam' on the incline.
The incompressible water flows around it and is deflected (I do believe)
in the 'down' direction.
I imagine children k-6 would enjoy fooling with this: varying the angle of
attack say?
