Sending books abroad

Some people wanted to send books and journals. They may be
interested in what was in A MESSAGE FROM ANOTHER LIST:

*************************************************************
For overseas shipments, there is a class called "M-Bag" that is much
cheaper than any other method. The box must weigh between 11 and
66 pounds and will cost $.79/lb via surface and $6.27/lb via air. Mark
the outside of the box "Postpaid M-Bag." You will need to furnish a
letter (on business letterhead if applicable) stating the name and
address
of the shipper, including name of contact person and phone number,
same information for the receiver (they said the Peace Corps address is
sufficient), the date, description of contents and where manufactured
(USA sufficient), and close with a statement of total value, total
weight,
and your signature.

Even if you don't use M-Bag, you will still need to supply the above
information. If you have any more questions, call the US Postal Service

at 1-800-275-8777. You will probably have to ask specifically about
M-Bag
service."

ONLY PRINTED MATTER can be mailed by M-Bag. This should
include books, magazines, and brochures (like the ones that the
scientific
companies send you with activities), etc. Absolutely no handwritten
papers! And no reams of ordinary paper.
