Just a brief followup to Ludwik's post on WebCT. I use this
software to teach an upper-division general education course on Energy and
the Environment (in which Ludwik lurked for most of the summer). The
software is very robust and full-featured.... There are several faculty
members on our campus who are using the software mainly to SUPPLEMENT
regular courses. Only a few of us have tried to use it as the PRIMARY
delivery mode....
It can be a valuable tool when used properly.....

PART OF A MESSAGE FROM ANOTHER LIST.
The university at which I have just started working is looking

distance learning software] as a mainstream teaching approach.
In other words, we wish to establish WebCT as a university-wide
online teaching and learning platform, through a coordinated
approach which considers adminstration, infrastructure, staff
development and support and student training and support. ...
