Of course you've heard the one about the researcher, Prof. Pfumbler who
repeatedly dropped buttered bread to test the law of butterology. After
many trials landing butter side down, one landed butter-side up. He was so
astounded that he ran down the hall yelling "Eureka" till he reached the
office of a mathematican colleage to whom he related the anomolous
incident.
The mathematician was not impressed. "You buttered the wrong side," he
said.
So Pfumbler is now applying for grant funding for a research project to
determine, in advance of dropping, which side to butter.
