Joseph did clarify the situation in which two like charges seem to
attract rather than to repel each other. Let me add that something
very similar can be observed with two bar magnets, one much
stronger than another. Several people reported (last spring ?) that
one must be careful in selecting a tape for the experiment. The tape
we used did behave as described by Bruce Sherwood. It was very
inexpensive; I do not remember the name of the manufacturer.
