I would like to make one of those wave bottles. My department has one. It
consists of a 2 liter bottle filled with two liquid that are insoluble. One
of the liquids is colored. I know you can make them with cooking oil and
water but the liquid in this one looks less viscous than cooking oil. One
of the other teachers in the department said the other liquid could be
hexane and that the bottle was made by cooling the hexane and water,
filling to the top, and sealing (something to do with keeping air out?)
Anyway, any information/web sites you know of pertaining to the
construction of these wave bottles would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
