Even more suspicious is the fact that the preview beta of Win98 is (on the
whole) getting a very favorable reception and numerous comments about it's
INCREASED stability. Could Apple and M$ be passing in the night?

BTW: Certainly Apple maintains newsgroups to deal with these kinds of OS
problems (M$ certainly does) such that it need not be a major thread on our
Physics listserve. {Or should we get into a Win98 vrs 8.1 protracted
discussion ;-( }

Mac, the new Mac OS starts acting like every GUI OS that Microsoft has ever
