I found the research proposals interesting.
I thought them likely to be of benefit to the
student researchers in the work-place.

Admitting to a certain personal prejudice, I found
that the word "affective" as in
'affective attitudes to styles of science-teaching'
set off my psychologist-alarms in what was to be a
physicist's project.

It is not difficult to imagine how pleased you are with
these efforts.

Whatcott

First, let me agree with Brian's first and third paragraphs.

Second, a comment on the middle paragraph... "Psychologist-alarms" not
withstanding, we have "made our own bed" as a professional community in
ignoring our responsibility to contribute to the education of society
beyond mere selection and training of our replacements. But then, as long
as we continue to discourage such efforts we will continue to receive
students at the HS and college levels about which to complain, so I guess
there _is_ a reason to continue excluding serious attempts to understand
the issues in physics learning and teaching from the work of 'proper'
physicists.

Just a thought... ;^)
