Re: Choir acoustics

Can anyone recommend ways to improve the acoustics for a choir in a
church with a limited budget.

The chapel seats about 400 and they think that the sound is "dead".
Some of the members were told to "ask a physics teacher". So they did.

Anyone got suggestions or people to ask?

I know that aesthetes will argue against this, but have you considered
electronics? Amplification (with addition of reverb) will help a great
deal. Halls that are too live can be treated to deaden them; halls that
are too dead to start with are a pretty tough proposition for remedy by
acoustic architecture. In any event electronics should be a lot cheaper
than architectural remedies, and much easier to modify to taste.
