FORCES (in ropes, rodes, etc.)

Is it also bad physics to say that "forces are transmitted" (when
applied through rods, ropes and pistons)? Why yes? Why not? The "why"
part of a reply, as pointed out by Tom, is the most important!

Ludwik Kowalski

This question was already asked by Brian, several days ago. He was
referring to a force in a rope of a steam engine. But nobody answered.

Charge is substantial. It is locally conserved. It can't appear in two
places at the same time. *Energy can*! .... Energy may be an attribute
of something that propagates, but there is no such thing as pure energy.

Conserved properties are substance-like. Push them down in one place,
they pop up somewhere else, and we say that a "flow" took place in
between.
