Quite a bit of what I know of electrostatics I learned in A. D. Moore's
book "ELECTROSTATICS: Exploring, Controlling, and Using Static
Electricity." Unfortunately it has long been out of print. (I must admit
to significant library fines associated with using it over the years!)
However, I just received a copy of a reprint of A. D. Moore's book.
The ESA, Electrostatic Society of America, just subsidized publication,
along with Moore's "Dirod Manual" in the same volume.
The book is mostly a collection of lecture exhibits and demonstrations,
but interspersed with real world examples and applications. I consider it
a *must* for the shelf of any physics educator or museum exhibit designer.
(And we all should get out and join the ESA as well! I'm a new member, I
hear they put on excellent yearly symposia.)
