Re: Hungarian Heat

They also probably use the same sign for Q and W. In the U.S. we use a
positive sign for work done by the system and negative sign for "heat" flow
out of the system. In Europe, they use the same sign for this.

Mark says:

Eszter from Hungary, frowning over her Hungarian notes from her second year
of high school, informed us that in Hungary they do not use this word for
"Q" but instead talk about "non-organized work", as opposed to "organized
work", which is of course "W".

This rang a bell!

A bell and chimes and shouts of hallelujah from the angels!!!

This is *very* interesting! Does anyone know why this came about.

Mark, can you ask Eszter how this came about. Is it embedded in the
language? Or is it local usage in the previous classroom which was
instilled by an insightful teacher?

Would others who's native language is not English please give the terms used
for "Q" and "W" in those languages and those terms transliterated to English..
