You can check out the PDF data sheets of the ADKL05, ADXL105 and
ADXL181(in design)
You can obtain on of these chips with all of the interfacing as part of
the Vernier Accelerometer. This past summer I interfaced a Vernier
Accelerometer into a tamper detection circuit. It is extremely sensitive
and quite stable in its linear output as a function of acceleration.
