Miscellaneous comment. The military changed from the Able, Baker, Charlie,
Dog, Easy etc. to Alpha etc. supposedly because our NATO partners find long
vowelsin the older phonetic alphabet rather difficult to understand, hence the
softer sounds of the "new" alphabet.
