Greetings everyone! First, I'd like to apologize for what I will
be asking for. I realize that this may not be the best place to ask such
a question, but I'm not sure who else to contact.
A student was working on a spreadsheet program for one of my
science classes and instead of exiting the normal way, she just turned
off the computer (I've told the students to exit out of the program and
Windows completely before turning off the computer.). I have a pc (IBM
clone) in my classroom and now when I turn on the computer, the only
thing I can see is a single line about half way up on the screen. It is
hard to make out, but it appears as though several lines are squeezed in
that small space. When I type "Win" to activate Windows, the windows
comes up fine. Whenever I try anything outside of windows, I get that
small line.
I tested the monitor on another computer and the monitor works
fine. I assume then that something has happened to the video card,
computer, or some file defining how to display the information on the
screen.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? This is a used computer that I
bought and I really can't afford right now to send out for repairs. If
anyone can offer any help, I'd greatly appreciate it! Please e-mail me
