published his paper on the electrodynamics of moving particles.

And, of course, Dirac's paper on the quantization of electric
and magnetic charge.
The monopole search is better based than the search for FTL
particles, since monopoles are predicted by certain versions of the
"big bang" cosmology. There is even an upper limit for the density
of monoples predicted by such theories. Current searches are not yet
sufficiently sensitive enough to probe that limit, although they are
getting close.
