Richard Feynman was considered last year by the Citizens Stamp
Advisory Committee, and was rejected! Apparently, although enough
people had written in on their own for him to be considered, there
was not enough organized support for him to gain approval.

In order to be honored by a U.S. postage stamp, one must have been dead
for at least ten years. The only exceptions are for former Presidents,
as was the case for Richard Nixon last year. I would imagine that after
1998 Feynman would stand a better chance for approval, perhaps as part of
a series including other prominent American physicists or scientists.
