Re: Millikan Apparatus- best one ?

In my view, the 'best one' is still the 30 year old Cenco unit. This
apparatus consists of two steel plates, 150 mm in diameter separated by
about 8 mm, supported in a round wooden case with a coffee can-like lid --
relatively simple to construct. We have, however, modified our apparatus
and experiment. The viewing microscope has been replaced by an Edmunds
video microscope and a Sony camera and VCR capture the oil droplets on
video tape. The rest of the system consists of a Mac 7100A/V computer to
capture and digitize the selected video frames. It's hardly classical, but
students get good results, are introduced to some 'high tech' equipment,
and generally finish the experiment in 3 hours.

We are planning to purchase one of the newer Millikan Apparatus.
The unit from Pasco (AP8210) is a bit cheaper but the Tel-Atomic
(100941) has a more convenient viewing telescope. Does anyone have
experience or suggestions regarding these units or others on the
market ?
