Re: Mastery Based Learning??

Discussion in my department of late has touched on "mastery-based learning"
in the university physics course environment. Does anyone know of any
relevant experience or experiments, especially in the context of relatively
large student numbers (~100 per lecture session)?

Robert:
One place to look at this would be in the article in AJP on Jim Gerhart's
Millikan Lecture from the '86 Summer Meeting in Flagstaff. This is often
found in the Jan issue of AJP the next year. Sorry I cannot be more
precise at the moment.

I have used what Jim was talking about in a 96 student class (all by
myself) and Jim developed his methods in a 300+ class as I understand it.
