Re: LabVIEW Use

Thanks to all who responded in regard to LabView use. I will perhaps
contact you with more questions as I continue my project. We have been using
HP Basic with HP computers and more recently HT Basic (an HP clone for use
with PC's) and the HP IEEE-488 card to control HP and other instrumentation
for advanced lab experiments. For example we have done the Franck Hertz
experiment by stepped the power supply in voltage and reading the electrometer
step by step and then plotting the results, all via an HT Basic program. My
goal was to use LabVIEW to do this kind of experiment easier and with better
graphics for data analysis built in. For non GPIB applications, we have
been using EASYEST LX (an Asyst variation) with standard DAQ boards. This
works well, but could also be done with LabVIEW from what I have read.

The bottom line is that there are many fairly easy data acquisition programs
out there for DAQ boards (including PASCO's programs), but not too many for
relatively straightforward control of GPIB instruments. The ones that exist
seem to be fairly high level for industrial applications such as testing
setups.

Thanks again for the advice.
