TEMPORARY ONE-YEAR PHYSICS FACULTY POSITION
UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH ALABAMA

The Department of Physics at the University of South Alabama invites
applications for a temporary one-year faculty position in Physics
starting September 1, 1996. There is a possibility for an extension of
this position for a second year contingent upon funding. The successful
candidate must have a Ph.D. in Physics and must show evidence for
excellence in teaching and research. Post-doctoral experience is
desirable. The primary duties for this position are teaching a wide
spectrum of undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses. Working with
undergraduate students in research is also encouraged.

The University of South Alabama is a comprehensive, state supported
institution with more than 12,000 students. Currently, the Physics
Department has six full-time permanent faculty and offers the B.S. degree
in Physics. Research facilities on campus include a 100 KV accelerator
and x-ray, molecular spectroscopy, and optical laboratories. There is
also a High Energy Physics research porgram active in experiments at
Fermilab. Departmental computing facilities include four Sun
SPARCstations connected to the Internet and a number of microcomputers.
A Cray C90 is also available through the Alabama Supercomputing Network.
