Re: Finding distance of Latituded...

Delissa,

Assuming that the two cities have the same longitude, one
finds there separation by taking the circumference of the earth
( = 2 pi 12756km ) times the faction of 360 degrees that separates
the cities latitude.

In your example this is :

2 X 3.14 X 12800 km X ( 44:30:30 - 42:00:00 ) /360

= 80,000 km X ( 2 + 30/60 + 30/36000) /360

I hope this helps
Thanks

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out? Does anyone know how to
find the distance between to locations if the Latituded of the two
locations are known? In other words, if city #1 is at 42:00:00N and city
#2 is at 44:30:30N, what is the distance between the two cities in
kilometers? Is there some formula to figure this out? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.
