Lyubomir Detchkov
Chief Assistant Professor

I am pleased to write to you (via your E-mail address) in the hope that
you will
be kind enough to help me with some important matters.

I would like to introduce myself:

I have been employed at the Department of Physics and Biophysics on the
Faculty
of Medicine at the Trakia University in Stara Zagora - Bulgaria as
Chief
Assistant Professor since 1983.

I have a Masters Degree in Physics and Mathematics, and a Post-graduate
Diploma
in Medical and Sanitary Physics.

I am among those, who have been selected for permanent residence in the
United
States, pursuant to the DV-96 immigrant visa program for fiscal
year 1996
(1 October 1995 to 30 September 1996). My case number is 96-EU-00037413.
My visa
application was approved on 27 February 1996. My family and I will
immigrate to
the U.S.
in the 10 June - 14 June, 1996 period.

We now live in Stara Zagora, a city in south-central Bulgaria. My wife is a
high
school teacher of Slavic (Bulgarian, Russian, Polish) and French languages.
She
has a Masters Degree in Slavic and French Philology and Pedagogy. My elder
son
(15 years old) is a high school student at the English language high
school, the
younger son (9 years old) is a pupil at the Russian language high school.

In accordance with the law creating the Diversity Visa, I and my family must
immigrate to the U.S. no latter than 26 June 1996.

Because I have very important teaching duties at my Department right to the
end of the
school year (7 June) I will not be able to fly to the U.S. and
arrange the
accommodation before my family comes. We will all be coming together in
mid-June

Unfortunately, I am not acquainted with anybody in the U.S. and my
family
resources are very limited - they do not exceed $ 4,500.

Under the above circumstances I am afraid that our American dream
could be
turned into a nightmare.

Therefore, I would like to ask you help me find a suitable job in
accordance
with my qualifications (preferably), or any kind of job for initial
survival of
my family.

I am a very good physicist and mathematician, with a great deal of
academic
teaching
experience. I am qualified for the following positions:
a) University/College Assistant Professor or Lecturer in Physics or
Mathematics;
b) High School Teacher in Physics, Mathematics or Computer Sciences;
c) Software Specialist at a School or High School;
d) Private Tutor in Physics and/or Mathematics;
e) Scientist, Physicist or Laboratory-Assistant at any kind of laboratory,
where physical
analyses or measurements are necessary, after a short training specialized
course.
f) Electrician, after a short retraining and updating on American standards
g) Technologist or designer in the semiconductor industry, after a short
retraining and
updating course;
h) Physicist-ecologist.

My wife is qualified for the following positions:

a) High School Teacher or Private Personal Teacher in Russian and/or French
languages;
b) Specialist in Slavic Culture and Languages;
c) Librarian;

I will appreciate any assistance you can give or suggestions you can make.
Perhaps you would be kind enough to forward a copy of this letter to some
others
who could provide employment opportunities for me or help me and my
family for
an initial accommodation.

If there is any further information you require, please write me AS
SOON AS
POSSIBLE or send me a fax and I will gladly supply any additional
information
you require.

You can also (preferably) reach me via E-mail at the following
address (the
American-Bulgarian center here in Stara Zagora):

office@stara-zagora.uspc.bg

Please put "for Lyubomir Detchkov - 2819-361/39783" as the subject of your
message. You can also fax me at +359-42-38810.

My curriculum vitae is enclosed.

I look forward to receiving your response as soon as possible.

Very truly yours,

Lyubomir Detchkov
