Storing and resurrecting magnets.

I'm a fairly new teacher at a new school that has some old
equipment (usually are the best ones). I was doing some cleaning and
checking of some of the equiment I have on hand. I have a couple of
small boxes of bar magnets and I was checking some of them and found that
many of them were basically poor magnets. Some of the magnets couldn't
even pick up a small paperclip or metal shavings. Most of them were just
bars with 'N' and 'S' stamped into them.
My first question is there a proper way of storing several
magnets together so that they may not interfere or destroy each others
magnetic properties? Usually in the small boxes there were 4-6 magnets.
Also, is there a cheap and easy way of bringing back the
magnetism of the magnets? I've seen magnetizers and demagnetizers sold
in magazines, but I prefer to find other ways of doing so.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Dwight
