So excess mass is effectively the mass equivalent of the binding
energy for that nucleus?


1 amu = 9.320 x 10^2 MeV

on this scale C-12 has an excess mass of 0.0000 MeV

For any other nuclide multiply the number of nucleons N x 9.320x10^2
and add the excess mass, and you have the mass of that nuclide in
Mev... well not really the mass, but the energy equivalent of the mass.
