[Phys-L] Did he make up for it? still is: Re: [Phys-l] air pressure question

My quick read is: either way (head on and perpendicularly to the relative wind outside the ‘bile’s window) will result in tone.

Head on the flowing air produces sound just as in blowing. (mentioned as a method earlier in this conversation), while perpendicularly one has the pitot tube pressure difference. Tho this may not result in a tone, pieces of paper will be “picked up” when placed near the mouth of the tube’s end inside the ‘bile. (also mentioned earlier in conversation)

Actually, I wasn't joking. I misread the article, assuming the end was
held perpendicular to the air flowing by. Big mistake on my part. I'll
go off and do something constructive now to make up for it!

I realise you are joking Bill, and to my shagrin, the paper noted a
tone
when the pipe is placed parallel to the air flow past the car (If I
read
it correctly)
