Re: [Phys-L] Stubborn brain habits

There are many PDF editors out there and some are quite inexpensive, but
they all have limitations. They have different features and quirks. Some
work better than Adobe Acrobat for certain features. I don't think most
work at all if the PDF is password protected, but I know there are ways
around that.

The following clip about the backwards bicycle is also for real. They did
an experiement where the fitted people with inverting glasses and it took a
long time. I don't remember how long, but possible months before they could
accommodate them, and then it clicked in. They reported seeing the world
normally and could do normal physical things. But when the glasses were
removed, they again took a long time to accommodate.

The interesting thing is how plastic children's brains are, but even adults
have enough plasticity to accommodate a backwards bicycle.

So the backwards bicycle is another example of how deeply embedded learning
can prevent learning something new which flies in the face of common
experience such as NTN3.
