Re: [Phys-L] energy in the gravitational field

a contributor to Phys-L, Carl Mungan, has published a nice paper in TPT: "Negative work done by a person".

This is a question I have thought about as well and occasionally addressed it with my students.
A tangential question: *How* is gravitational potential energy stored in the gravitational field?

Very kind of you to remark on my humble paper. I agree with the answers by John D. and others. It might amuse you to read some back-and-forth between Cliff Swartz and myself in the pages of AJP before his passing which addresses this question and related topics:

Best regards, Carl
