Re: [Phys-L] peer instruction

Peer instruction -- introduced (I think) by Eric Mazur at Harvard in the
early 90s

www.amazon.com/Peer-Instruction-Manual-Eric-Mazur/dp/0135654416/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1446832227&sr=8-1&keywords=mazur+peer

Teach a topic, ask some multiple choice questions, kids vote, then they
share with each other to reach an answer. So I am looking for online
sources of bio and chem multiple questions (not videos). There are many
for physics.

Thanks for the web links. I'm sure they are useful. I may check them out,
but they are not what I was looking for.

Hi, Anthony.

Can you please share with me what you mean by "peer instruction"?  I am
developing a platform for peer-to-peer teaching at the high school level,
and the majority of our content is for physics.  We expanded in
September to include math, history, and other sciences too.

I can steer you toward a lot of peer resources, though naturally I want
to ask you for feedback on mine :)   My goal is a peer-to-peer teaching
community powered by student-made video lessons.  In addition to a
curriculum of student-content, I want to add chat, message boards, tools
for students to collaborate on projects, etc.  You can see what I've
done so far at [ http://OpenSourceHigh.com ]OpenSourceHigh.com.

As for some other peer-to-peer resources, here is what I've found:

[ http://SchoolTube.com ]SchoolTube.com has lots of student-made content
mixed with teacher-made content.

[ http://ProjectEd.com ]ProjectEd.com started off with student-made
content and added some adult stuff too.

[ http://OpenStudy.com ]OpenStudy.com has lots of peer-to-peer tutoring
chat support for free.

Luvo Learn (formerly Flash Notes) has a lot of peer-made content for
higher ed, much of which can be used for high school too.

[ http://PeerAnswer.com ]PeerAnswer.com - a new site I recently
discovered which has chat rooms similar to

[ http://OpenStudy.com ]OpenStudy.com with additional social features.

Hope this helps.  And please let me know anything extra you think I
should be looking at as I progress forward with Open Source High.

I use peer instruction techniques in my physics classes. A few of my (non
physics) colleagues wanted to know of any online peer instruction
resources for biology and chemistry. Does anyone know of good online
sources for multiple-choice questions in these disciplines?
