Here are some videos of Feynman explaining quantum mechanics
to a general audience. It's something to behold, covering
in detail the most profound parts of physics, explaining it
to folks who don't know what complex numbers are.
This is classic Feynman, including e.g. snarky remarks about
armchair philosophers who try to tell physicists how to do
physics.
The first hour is mostly a survey of what's known, making the
point that the obvious classical explanations don't work. I
reckon most of the people on this list can skip this and start
with the second hour, without losing anything important.
The video quality is atrocious, but it doesn't matter. The
audio is sometimes garbled and even drops out entirely on a
couple of occasions, but nothing important is lost.
This may be old news to some folks. The videos have been on
the web for three years, but I just recently found out. The
recordings were made at the University of Auckland in 1979.
