Anything can be considered to be in some way connected to anything else. That does not seem a strong basis for making the 'range of convenience' of a themed email list anything that someone who is a member of the list wishes to post on - isn't that why they have invented twitter and facebook, for when people have something they are burning to say, but have not yet joined a relevant email list? A worthy topic is not necessarily on theme, and a theme that is interpreted too loosely may not retain the interest of those initially attracted by its promise.

p.s. I suppose others would write support of education in general is necessary for the preparation of students to "learn" physics. Rather basic, no?
