Thanks. So the data can be analyzed so as to get reasonable fits. But this
does not include the Mauder minimum. In other words the models for sunspot
production have some big holes as far as long term prediction is concerned.
You can't predict a Mauder minimum and if one starts you can't predict how
long it will be. I suppose this is a similar problem to predicting
earthquakes or when the magnetic field will reverse. But short term
prediction is possible. Geology is tough, and even tougher for remote
objects.
