From hearing Dr. Wieman speak here and from what I've been reading about this method through the years, it seems like this article might not be "old news". What I've seen in the past were courses structured so that fewer topics were covered. thus increasing the time per topic. Then, with less to learn, students do better.
It seems like this time the same amount of material was covered in the two sections.
If so, this article would be giving us "new news".
Of course, my understanding of the material covered situation could be wrong. No one has used that method to teach me about it.
