I've had a 'serious' robotics team now for ten years and have enjoyed 
seeing the interaction between the 'geeks' who are headed for MIT. 
Stanford etc. and the 'Good ol Boys' from the farms who actually know 
which end of a screw driver to hold onto. (and don't mind learning to 
TIG weld an Al frame even tho their previous experience has been 
'just' MIG welding on their mom's drag racer. ;-)

Kids who want to learn can do wonders.
And kids teaching kids is great fun to watch.
