There's a movie based on the discovery of tube based electronics in a soviet fighter "collected". It took a while for the CIA, whoever, to realize the Soviets were not backwards! and then there's that horrible movie of the training of chimps to fly a simulator to see if they could survive long enuf to deliver nukes after a lethal dose.
