Re: [Phys-l] Domestic light sources

Just to lighten your day (pun intended), Europe now has the Heatball® ( http://heatball.de/en/ ) ...

"The most original invention since the electric light bulb! Although a heatball is technically very similar to a light bulb, it is a heater rather than a source of light.

Heatballs fit into commonly found E27 and E14 sockets. Its efficiency is unprecedented. "

Apparently it is mostly a protest against enforcing some environmental regulations while allowing wholesale destruction of rainforests.

Subject: [Phys-l] Domestic light sources

This is from a message received today:

"It might interest you to know that in UK 100W light bulbs are no
longer available and I heard on the news today that 60W bulbs are also
to be phased out fairly soon. There is growing pressure to move on to
more efficient lighting technologies. ..."
