Re: [Phys-l] Responding to a DJ about science

I saw his response on Facebook. He's just a local DJ in a small town in Ohio. He, and some other tv and radio personalities, I've caught making mistakes or personal comments that contradicts common scientific knowledge. Sometimes when I hear such things, being an educator, I feel it responsible to "educate" the individual. Many times I never hear a response, but at least I made an attempt. This one kind of got under my skin with his "dodging the subject" and it felt like trying to reason with a child having a tantrum. As someone had mentioned earlier of the analogy of wrestling with a pig, I think it best to let it go and try to stay "clean".

So, did you have this debate w/ the dj "on air" or by e-mail? If not on air, get there; challenge him to a debate on air, or if you don't have much debating experience, find a pro. who also is "science oriented". Prep. him. and go for it.

bc reminded of Darwin's bulldog.

BTW, why are you (SD) listening to this station? [Not that listening to the "enemy" isn't a very good thing.]
