One of the experiments in the sophomore lab at UCSB (ca. 1956) was to find the dew point. The app. was a container of ethyl ether, one side highly polished (chrome plated?). Air was bubbled and the thermometer read when condensation noted using a short focus telescope.

For the student's experiment a variably powered thermoelectric cooling plate would be suitable.
