Not too long ago, if you had given /me/ that quiz, I would 
have gotten the wrong answers.  The discussions I've seen
in textbooks -- even well-respected textbooks -- are wrong
several times over.

This is indeed interesting topic.  It is absolutely central
to any real understanding of thermodynamics.
