[Phys-l] Why Take Physics - FREE Poster from the AAPT

Order some FREE "Why Take Physics" posters.

AAPT in partnership with APS and ComPADRE has a new tool to help students understand why it is important to take physics.

This large, colorful, humorous poster presents the "Top Ten Reasons to Take Physics".

The poster was mailed with the January 2010 issue of THE PHYSICS TEACHER.

The poster can be shipped to your school, free; order them at
http://www.aps.org/programs/education/posters.cfm

I suggest that you order them for your chemistry teachers, your physical science teachers, and counselors, if they are willing. Marilyn Gardner, the AAPT Director of Communications, told me recently that they have MANY of this poster on hand.

BTW, at that webpage, you can download a pdf of the poster. Send it as an attachment to science/math colleagues and students; they'll laugh!

Modeling is about making and using scientific descriptions (models) of physical phenomena and processes. Modeling Instruction is an inquiry method for teaching science by actively engaging students in all aspects of scientific modeling.
