This is actually a true storyt: Eric Rogers gave Einstein such a device as a birthday present for Einstein's 76'th birthday. Details can be found in: "The Equivalence Principle demonstrated- The Problem" (by Eric Rogers) and "The Solution" by I. Bernard Cohen. All that can be found on pages 131-132 of: "Einstein, a Centenary Volume", edited by A. p. French, Harvard University Press Cambridge, MA. 1979 (ISBN 0-674-24230-0)

I built such a device and often used it with teachers in our in-service course - great success!
