Re: [Phys-l] Hall effect lab experience with common materials ?

The "kicker" is common life material. Of course, your problem is solved if one may argue successfully since Bi is an ingredient in Pepto Bismol, it's a common life material.

Bi has a hugh Hall coefficient.

Here's an ancient expt. using a potentiometer and a bismuth ribbon. The Type K (L & N) Has a resolution of (with careful technique) of one microvolt. so it's obvious that a typical lab "volt" meter will do.

I played w/ a Corbino disk (ca. 1962) and didn't have an expensive meter.

bc wonders if that lab could afford a research grade pot.

Hello:

I am trying to design a Hall effect Lab demonstration, but using the simplest way possible, although we have the Lab instruments, the idea is to built a sensor with common life materials . Could it be possible ?.

My best regards.
