Re: [Phys-l] SOLAR , NUCLEAR ENERGY etc.

That's why FDR was so hated -- sl. misdirected, as it was, IIAC, due to his wife's prodding. The reverse redistribution began w/ Carter and accelerated w/ Reagan. Those coming of age under Carter were the first who could look forward to a life worse, instead of better, than their parents.

Of the three ancient advanced cultures, as opposed to Egypt and Summer, the one in Western India was quite different from all, AFAIK, They were ruled by a priestly cast not evidently particularly well to do with the vast majority "middle" class. They were not a warrior culture like the other two which led to their easy conquest by nomadic tribes a millennia after their rise. It also was very conservative; whenever one of their capitals was flooded, it was rebuilt exactly the same. The author of the article from which the previous comes ascribed the modern Hindu to a fusion of this culture along the Indus valley and the nomad tribes.

A BTW: their measures were uniform thru-out; construction brick (fired, a wet climate) were accurately the same.

bc reading fifty year old Scientific Americans.

p.s. govt. and private money borrowing is one of the gross, but hidden methods of maldistribution.

Redistribution of wealth happens all the time. When tax and other government policies are changed there often is a redistribution of wealth that goes along with those changes. Sometimes wealth is redistributed upward from those with less wealth to those with more, as it was for much of the previous Administration here in the U.S. And, sometimes the redistribution of wealth is downward from those with more wealth to those with less.

Incentives to move to cleaner energy are likely to result in some redistribution of wealth. However, I think much of that redistribution will take place within the framework of capitalism. There are those entrepreneurs who will seize the future, and those who will remain stuck in the past. Those who seize the future will come out ahead, and those who remain stuck in the past will fall behind.
