Re: [Phys-l] Isotope chemistry and physics

I am going to take a wild guess that Bob is relatively slender, so he has no great
personal acquaintance with the results of the slow attack of the water borne
lipase on energy-dense fat globules in the food he eats, until aided by bile
secretions to emulsify them to a more favorable surface/volume ratio.
Then how the fat is processed to forms which may still be stored as
lipid reserves while glucose from carbohydrates is preferentially turned to
energetic profit. (he writes ruefully, eyeing his 38 inch-waist pants
which are none too loose.)

My understanding is that animal fat is digested like any other food.
What is it that stays behind?

Isotope chemistry and physics

Whether D2O should be used as a solvent for medicines, etc is a separate
issue altogether from the question I had. ... other things we
routinely ingest, such as animal fat. That stuff stays with you a LONG
time and can make your heart fail after a few years. ...
