So in what ways are the students not learning like adult scientists?
I didn't say adult scientists ... I said adults [:-)]
This would be the intemperate-me speaking, not necessarily the line
you'll get when I'm well rested. The one that wonders (from time to
time), "when do you learn to put your butt in a seat, listen, take
notes, pick up a book, and figure it out."
There comes a time in life where that's a skill most of us need,
whatever your opinions of curricular reform in ANY subject. To learn
without being baby-sat. And that ISN'T the intemperate-me talking.
PS. In case I haven't said it clearly enough, I am generally
supportive of profound curricular reform. But I DO believe there
MUST be a place for the more old-fashioned variety of learning in
every student's training.
