Doubtless.

But the tests exist, and any discussion of curricular reform must  
eventually deal with them in one fashion or another.     I'd like to  
see a lot more of that conversation take place in the context of PER.

I have no problem at all, on a personal level, with covering less  
material in a much more effective fashion.   If we teach students how  
to teach themselves properly, they can figure out what we left out on  
their own.  But, especially in the intro sequences, I just don't see  
how that's a viable option until the question of MCATs (in particular)  
is dealt with.
