Re: [Phys-l] Textbooks vs multimedia

Why was included in Eric Mazur's. lecture at Stanford (and elsewhere) recently. In a socialist economy texts would be only occasionally updated, not a new edition "every three years".

The lecture is available at:

http://mazur-www.harvard.edu/search-talks.php?function=recent

search: 30 october (the second one)

I discover the presentation doesn't' include Dr. Mazur's explanation (no sound). The used book trade robs the publishers of their profit, so every few years they make the old text unusable. I've left the link, as some may find it otherwise instructive.

bc's finds some ancient intro. texts (ca. 1920) could be used now.
