The reason for differential responses to some multi-choice questions 
does not
necessarily confound the smart/dumb measure: a notable cause  is the 
culture-sensitive
question style:  " At the bottom of the ninth, with bases loaded, if 
five straight
balls are missed, how may balls are left in the over" -  like that...
