An Analog Delay Line would serve this purpose.

I'll wager that they will be available soon either as commercial
items or (more likely?) as hobbyist projects.

Soon?
Long, long ago, when computers were young, a short term data storage method was via nickel (magnetostriction) delay lines, or via
mercury delay lines (presumably with acoustic transducers each end.)

Later, an acoustic echo device was popular with musicians: a wire spring in tension, with an actuator at one end, and a transducer like a record pickup - at the other.
